 This photo depicts the ringtail body shape well. The local (SE QLD) ringtails tend to be reddish in colour. Ringtails eat a variety of flowers, leaves, and fruits. They have a more restricted diet than brushtails, and with the exception of some fruits, aren't attracted to foods that people eat. The less varied diet may result in foods passing more quickly through ringtail digestive systems. Ringtails eat their own poo to have a second chance at some of the nutrients they didn't absorb the first time around. When possums (ringtail or brushtail) are perched here facing this direction, they are usually just about to leap into a nearby tree. ringtails main page |
