  Blackbeard has precise aim when he has to give up stability to lunge for food. He has never scratched us, not even accidentally or in a panic. At first, he was anxious about being petted anywhere near his head, but he didn't seem to mind if his toes were petted. As he got to know us, he was no longer anxious at all about being petted - even on his head. Blackbeard is more likely than the other possums to maintain eye contact.
