    Yes, this is Blackbeard. Photos taken up close sometimes emphasize the reddish tones in his fur. These photos best represent the way Blackbeard looks in everyday life, the way he appears to us after we've had time to get to know him. The very first brushtail photo we have, a blurred/overexposed one from 2001, may be a photo of a young Blackbeard. The general shape, colouring and nose markings look very similar.
